God provides when you do
Question: John in Florida just started a new job that makes less than his former one. He wants to get a second job to make more, but his wife wants them to trust God to provide. What does Dave say about this? He wants them to read a book for the answer.
Dave Ramsey's advice: If you trust God, read the Bible, which says you reap what you sow. The Bible says the diligent prosper. I don't know where your wife thinks this baked turkey is going to come from if you don't go turkey hunting. Roast turkeys don't fly in windows. You need to go get a turkey, kill it and bake it. That is how God provides for us.
I think you are trusting God when you put the hands and the mind that He gave you to work. What if a farmer just looked at the field and said he was going to trust God for his crops? I don't think that's godly, I think it's a Christian excuse for being lazy, and that's as a fellow Christian.
