Carolyn in Oklahoma and her husband have been separated for a year. He lives at their condo but hasn’t been paying the fees on it, and now a foreclosure has been filed. She’s on the deed of the condo and wages might be garnished. Dave explains how this is a quit-claim deed matter, and what that entails.
Adam in Maryland has a stepdad who has a car lease. His mom would like him to get out of that $450 monthly lease. What can Adam say to convince him that a lease is a bad idea? Dave doesn’t think Adam can do that, for one reason, but there might be another way.
Neil in Texas has a wife who just revealed to him that she has $33,000 in credit card debt. They have $27,000 in savings and emergency funds. Should he let them go into a delinquent state so he can settle on them? Dave wants him to address some other issues along with the money.
Stacy in Alabama and her husband are starting Dave’s plan. They make $79,000 a year and want to start a family, but they have $25,000 in debt. Should they defer the payments on their student loans until he finishes his bachelor’s degree next year?
Cliff in Alabama is thinking of defaulting on his mortgage payment for a couple of months in order to qualify for a loan modification. He bought his home at the top of the market and he’s now upside down by $25,000 on the house. Dave is perplexed by Cliff’s approach to this.
Nora in California is being sued for $7,000 in credit card debt. If they get the judgment, can they take money from her checking account?

Elsie in Virginia and her husband have $135,000 left on the debt snowball. They have a young son and she travels internationally for work. She thinks Dave says to put off getting life insurance until they are out of debt. Dave takes this opportunity to clear up a misunderstanding that she has.
Jaclyn and her husband are debt-free. They have an extra $2,000 a month that they don’t know what to do with. They have money saved for emergencies and contribute to retirement. Since he’s in the military, should they keep paying on the house if they’ll be moving in two years?
Brian and his wife have $121,000 in debt, including medical debt, car loans and student loans. He’s a church pastor who makes $13,000 a year and they are further behind each month. Should he give up being a pastor to get another job? Dave has a few other ideas to make this better.

Bob in Indiana cosigned on a student loan for his son, who isn’t being responsible in paying it. A Sallie Mae representative said he could be released as cosigner if 24 payments are made on time, but that’s not available to him because his son has missed payments. Is that right? Dave has some sad news for him.
Melissa in Tennessee had a loan company take a payment out of a checking account that she had closed. It was from an account that they have never had any sort of access to, which raises some serious confusion with Dave about something.
Jan in Tennessee and her husband have had a rough year. She has gotten a second job, but it requires a dependable car and she doesn’t have one. Her credit is bad and that prevents a car loan, and she’s wondering what she should do. Dave wants her to be wary of what this job might really be.
